A Maltese delegation is currently attending VIV Europe 2014 in Utrecht, the Netherlands, a world expo for Animal Husbandry and Processing. The delegation is made up of farmers, academic staff and students who are in the agri-business sector.
Companies that are exhibiting at VIV Europe 2014 are unveiling products and systems at the animal protein agribusiness show taking place between the 20th and the 22nd of May. Coupled with a vast variety of exhibitors, an important conference was held yesterday during VIV Europe, organized by the Dutch branch of the World’s Poultry Science Association (WPSA).
The conference addressed the question generally regarded as the greatest challenge facing everyone in the poultry business in the 21st Century; how to provide food in an ethical, sustainable and responsible way to a world population that is expected to grow to nine billion by 2050. Better life for animals and environmental impacts are themes of paramount importance concerning all stakeholders in the livestock industry. Attending such an expo brings all those attending up to date with developments about meat business and how it can be improved through yields, quality, hygiene, traceability, and efficiency.
