Earlier today, a number of farmers and their representatives attended a consultation meeting at the Koperattivi Malta premises in Qormi with regards to the Maltese Agri Policy 2018-2028.
Mr. Eman Vella from Atriga Consult gave a brief introduction of the draft policy and its priorities. Hon. Clint Camilleri made his intervention by saying that this policy is the first of its kind and that efforts are being made to make this policy work.
Following this, the floor was given to the attendees. Several interesting remarks have been made including;
- Land and water management issues
- Family friendly measures needed to assist young farmers
- Suggested measures linking local growers to the catering industry
- EU funding and the need for better administration
